The combination of these pale neutral colors with a dark saturated obi is an interesting way to make them brighter and bring the colors out a bit.
If the obi was black it wouldn’t seem to vibrate against the brown and green the way it does, and the blue brings the color out in the haori and kimono.
Red kimono with pattern of chrysanthemum and a hanhaba obi tied in a big ribbon. This is a casual, festive set.
Even though the colors in the kimono and obi don’t match very well, the size and shape of the pattern does, so it looks well coordinated no matter what colors are being used.
A geometric stripe paired with a large flower is always a good coordination idea.
